First Aiders, Paramedics and Medical Staff

First Aiders

Our First Aiders provide robust, immediate care. They are trained above HSE standard by our in-house Instructor to ensure quality control measures and consistency in their practice.

Ambulance Scotland carries out additional skills training (for example, Moving & Handling) to ensure our team are prepared for every eventuality. Each First Aider is equipped with a standard list of kit issued by our HQ and are all trained in the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s).

Paramedics & Ambulance Staff

All of our Paramedics are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and have frontline experience delivering care for health services. For peace of mind, you can check the registration of any of our Paramedics by searching the UK register here. Paramedics will have qualified with either an IHCD award, university diploma or a Bachelor’s degree in Paramedic Science following a rigorous programme of study and practical assessment.

Institute of Health and Care Development qualifications have been the industry standard for Ambulance Technicians for many years. However, as new qualifications have been introduced, Ambulance Scotland only use Technicians who hold a Level 4 Ambulance qualification or IHCD award.

Our A&E ambulance staff operate to JRCALC standards. All event ambulances will be supplied with, at minimum, one Paramedic and one Technician. To ensure patient safety this is non-negotiable.

We also have a team of Care Assistants who are available for non-urgent ambulance transfers. Our ACA’s are trained to the same standard as the NHS authorities and are qualified in the use of AED’s and basic life support.

Through our finely tuned scheduling system we can often mobilise staff at short notice and identify the most appropriate clinical team to send dependant upon your requirements.

Doctors & Nurses

Ambulance Scotland Doctors and Nurses all have relevant and ongoing experience in delivering emergency and pre-hospital care. These highly skilled medical professionals can staff on site medical centres with full resus capabilities where the risk assessment/event licensing requires it or where the organiser feels it good practice.

Our nurses are registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council

Doctors are registered with the General Medical Council,┬átheir registrations can both be checked on the governing bodies’ websites.

Medical Managers & Controllers

Medical Managers and Controllers act as a liaison between event management, other agencies and medical staff. They make use of our communications systems to dispatch resources to medical incidents and produce live logs which can be viewed by our Operations Team.

All Ambulance Scotland Medical Managers and Controllers have clinical experience providing care to patients at events for a number of years. This experience means they can expertly triage calls, identify the most appropriate resource to send and provide relevant information to receiving hospitals, emergency services and event organisers.

Our Medical Managers and Controllers have undergone training in major incident response and have participated in live training exercises.
