In addition to our frontline standard A&E vehicles, we also have a dedicated bariatric unit available.

Due to finely tuned scheduling, we can often mobilise crews in under an hour for urgent or last minute requirements.

Our Patient Transport Services

Ambulance Scotland has a long history providing ambulance transport to the NHS. We have transferred patients across the UK from hospital to hospital, discharges and routine appointments.

We are an NHS Scotland approved supplier.

We can mobilise crews from our Hillington base often in under an hour and can meet last minute requirements where competitors struggle including our expert ECMO patient and Bariatric transfer service.

Our experience also extends to transfers on behalf of hospices such as CHAS Robin House and also care for patients with complex mental health needs.

We regularly receive emails and phone calls from customers who have a loved one in a residence looking to go to a care home. We understand that often these situations can be very stressful and upsetting so our caring team can provide a cost-effective and, most importantly, dignified ambulance transport solution with highly trained staff for the patient.

We also supply transfers to the private healthcare and insurance industry.

Every ambulance is kitted to A&E standard however an assessment will be made based on the customer’s requirements and the patient’s needs on whether a Paramedic, Technician and Care Assistant crew will be required.

Patient Transfers need a high degree of patient care and understanding, Ambulance Scotland have been transferring patients on behalf of the NHS, the insurance industry and many private customers for a number of years.

We pride ourselves in our patient care not only clinically, which is our number one priority, but also our sympathetic approach to casualty comfort. We have available both standard road ambulances and ambulance cars, and we plan transfer routes to ensure patient comfort and journeys that avoid unnecessary delays.

We offer a repatriation service to both leading medical insurance providers and individuals. This includes the arrangement of Air and/or Road ambulance transport. We work hard to ensure patients receive high quality care when transferring between mainland Europe and hospitals. Ambulance Scotland are able to offer an excellent Repatriation Service to:

  • – The Private Health Sector
  • – Private Customers

Our staff are skilled at arranging the best options, tailored to your needs and designed to optimise journey times, whilst maintaining the comfort and safety of your patient.

Our Head Office can assist in the arranging of;

Inside our Ambulances

The Ambulance Scotland difference

We take a real pride in our services, to us it’s not just about delivering what the customer has paid for. It’s about exceeding your expectations. Below are just some of the features of our service that set us apart from our competitors.

Using industry leading tracking software, Samsara, we can locate any vehicle in our fleet 24 hours a day.

Every vehicle has an iPad fitted configured by our in-house Technical Services team. This allows our crews to complete timesheets at the end of shifts and has dispatch capabilities.

We also have access to live dash-cam footage in high definition. This allows us to identify exactly when an ambulance reaches your event, gets to hospital and returns.

We use a finely tuned scheduling system across our entire business that can be edited in real time by our operations team from any location. This allows us to inform our team of any last minute changes to your requirements.

Our Bariatric Service is designed to provide a safe and dignified transport solution to those whose weight, or condition require specialist transport.

The ambulances mirror Accident & Emergency type layouts with additional equipment, including an extra wide ramp capable of lifting and conveying 600kg. A 1 ton electric winch assists in the loading and unloading of beds; inbuilt 12v & 240v mains power, the vehicles in-built 1,000 watt mains inverter ensures all battery powered equipment is ready for immediate use.

We have on board an electric Ferno Harrier XL bariatric cot which is expandable to 39 inches wide and can carry patients up to 70 stones.
